Challenge

The gearbox previously used by the customer did not meet the application requirements:

• the equipment was operating too quickly,
• it was feeding an excessive amount of material,
• the output torque was too low,
• the system frequently became blocked.

A solution was required that would provide the correct operating parameters and ensure stable performance.

Solution

A Chiaravalli planetary gearbox, model CHPL 50004, was proposed together with a 22 kW motor and a forced cooling system. The selection was supported by an analysis of the technical parameters, including torque, loads and service life. The solution was compared with a competing SEW offer and successfully justified during meetings with the equipment manufacturer and the investor.

Result

• selection of a gearbox meeting the application’s technical requirements,
• elimination of problems caused by the previous incorrect selection,
• selection of the Archimedes solution over a competing supplier,
• implementation of the gearbox in the installation and delivery of a spare unit.
